Sylvia Joyce (Hyman) Seiler of London Road died Monday, Sept. 20, 1999, in St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn.

She was born in Duluth on Oct. 3, 1921. She was a lifelong resident of Duluth, graduated from Central High School and was active in the planning of many class reunions. Her greatest joy in life was sharing her life with friends and family through baking and entertaining.

She was a member of Temple Israel, Northland Jewish Fund and Northland Country Club; a lifelong member of Hadassah; and active in Temple Israel Sisterhood and various other community and civic charities. She also enjoyed her part-time employment at Security Jewelers wrapping holiday gifts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; her grandson, Shawn Seiler; and her nephew, Michael Seiler.

She is survived by her sons Steven (Terri Harris) and Jack (Cindy) of Duluth; her daughter, Saranee Newman (Neil) of Minneapolis; her grandchildren Debbie (Pran) Jha, Brent Seiler, Betsy (Marc) Rosen, Gerri Fiterman (fiance Jeremy Persin), David Fiterman, Jereme Seiler and Noah Seiler; great-grandchildren Janak and Ravi Jha; a nephew, Stuart Seiler; a special friend, Oscar Taran; and many loving family and friends.

Service: 1 p.m. today in Temple Israel, Duluth. Memorials preferred to Temple Israel Endowment Fund, 1602 E. Second St., Duluth, MN 55812. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth.
